Chakra, the ISKCON web site, which has become famous for publishing articles which are offensive to the Founder-acharya of ISKCON, His Divine Grace, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, has been closed down as a new editor (Umapati Swami) refused to publish such offensive articles. Maria Ekstrand / Madhudvisa dasa (10-23-02) Maria Ekstrand who tried to introduce the women's liberation philosophy into ISKCON by rejecting the teachings of Srila Prabhupada on this point has now closed down Chakra as she does not agree it should only publish articles which are in line with the philosophy of Krishna consciousness as taught by Srila Prabhupada.
Her vision is for a more liberal, "up-to-date" ISKCON and thinks the teachings of Srila Prabhupada are simply old fashioned.
Maria Ekstrand Shuts Down Chakra

From Yahoo Groups:
Haribol everyone, Just wanted to let you know that Umapati Swami and I
finally came to a place of complete standstill yesterday. We simply could
not agree on the content and philosophy of Chakra, so I have temporarily
shut down the site until we assemble a new team who can agree on a vision
for the site. Would love to hear your input: What did you like about the
old Chakra? What would you like to change? Are there otehr websites with
features that should be incorporated? What should Chakra stand for?
Anyone want to get involved? In what role? I'm hoping to have it up and
running soon again, while people are still interested in visiting.
Maria Ekstrand
